October is a very important month. Not only does it serve as the first complete month of Autumn, but it is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast Cancer is a continuing serious concern, especially within the Black community. I have had several friends and family members affected by breast cancer. Most recently a few days ago, I found out that one of my fellow alumnus from the class of 2005 at XULA had unfortunately succumbed to her long battle with this disgusting disease.
Breast cancer is an unfortunate commonality that we all have dealt with in some way or another. As a physician I feel that it is my continuing purpose to spread education and also hope. I thought a great way to continue to inspire love and positivity is with a sprinkle mix. This sprinkle mix is not filled with pink ribbons for breast cancer but the proceeds of this mix will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
After creating the Beat Breast Cancer Sprinkle Mix I thought that I would continue the inspiration by creating a special cake for breast cancer awareness. Here's what I came up with below.
Lets remember to continue our monthly self breast exams and mammograms!
